The art cow
Price: 75 000 NOK (+5% fee on sale of visual art)
Date: 2006-2010
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 91 cm, 121 cm
I started painting ”The art cow” in 2006 in Singapore and finished it in 2010 in Norway. I started drawing and painting cows in the 90’s because I saw the comic potential in the cows features. I love to stretch, squash and play with this silly cow. It has become a flexible friend where I can demonstrate my principles of creativity. In 2002 I came up with the TV show ”Cows’n crayons” where I taught kids drawing and art from the belly of an enormous cow called Melanie. During this time I had fun producing a lot of cow art and ended up as quite a famous cow artist. Although I will continue using my Idea cow (as I now call her) to explore my creative ideas, I will stop making my cow paintings the way I did. Thus leaving the period 2002-2007 as my cow period.

The pencil family
Price: 75 000 NOK (+5% fee on sale of visual art)
Date: 2010-2011
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 80 cm, 110 cm
The pencil family” is the last piece of an evolution that started with my very first canvas painting ”the pencil boy” back in 1989. Since then I have used this theme in 4 different paintings, this on the biggest so far. Ever since I saw the movie ”Pinocchio” as a child, I have been facinated with wooden figures, their facial expression and how the light falls on the various shapes.
I love the look, feel and smell of wood. Althoug I dont work with wood, I love to paint it.
I have visited numerous wood workshops in many countries, soaking up the eerie, and sometimes sinister, expressions of the wooden toys, masks and figures.
In this painting each member of the family owns a pencil that gives them the power to ride on clouds, without it they turn to braindead bureaucrats (or come up with your own story).
This picture is a play with light, shade and atmosphere, which took me 18 months to complete. The painting’s 3d feel is build up of layer upon layer of paint, first the transparent, then the opaque. To me a picture like this is successful when you get an irresistible urge to touch it.
